France Part 5: Billionaire’s Bay

On the Monday of our France trip, Chad and I got up before the kids again and grabbed our morning pastries and drinks at our now “regular” cafe in the market. The market is closed on Mondays, so it was much quieter than usual without the hustle and bustle of the vendors setting up.

We found this cool painting by Emile Dameron of what this market looked like in the 1800s.

Addie had class this day, so after Millie and Tate got up, we walked a few blocks to the beach. It was a gorgeous sunny morning for it!

Our beautiful walk to the beach along the Mediterranean with the Pyrenees off in the distance. I could get used to this every morning!

I loved this view of the medieval city as a backdrop to the beach.

Millie and Tate enjoyed looking for sea creatures.

Later, after Addie and her friends got home from class, we took a bus a few miles down the road to the Billionaire’s Bay hike.

Billionaire’s Bay is a cove on the Cap d’Antibes with several mansions hidden up along the cliffs, hence the name.

On a sunny day, these waters are a bright turquoise. Unfortunately, we hit it on a cloudy day, but it was still stunning!

Most of the villas are hidden among the trees, but you can see the private stairs leading up to them from the path.

This area was so fun to explore with all the staircases and hidden nooks and crannies.

Just a little glimpse of one of the opulent mansions off of the path

After our gorgeous afternoon hike, we took the bus back to our neighborhood and enjoyed another little walk along the Mediterranean, taking in the beautiful view of Antibes.

That night we were too tired to make dinner, so we used the Too Good To Go app, which Addie introduced us to. It’s an app you can use to buy “surprise” bags of food at the close of the day at cheap prices since the restaurants would’ve had to throw them out otherwise. It’s intended to help reduce food waste. We picked up at 2 different restaurants so we could have a little variety. This is what we got.

Obviously, we got a lot of bread! But a few of those were sandwiches (hard to tell in the pic), so we divided those up, along with a few little quiches and some delicious pastries. It was a fun way to do dinner cheaply.

Then we rested up because the next day we would be trying to hit two other countries, so we knew we needed a good night’s sleep!
